FRIGHT NIGHT

FEAR was the topic on Friday night. We are hoping that Drop Zone is not a fearful place to be on a Friday evening, but there surely are a lot of other frightful places and things. We had a lot of fun playing games that included a fear factor. Not many of you were courageous enough to eat the unlabelled baby food but well done to the volunteers that were willing to walk the plank. Because you were blindfolded you thought that you were surfing really high in the air, but we had you tricked, you really were only about a metre off the ground!!!!!



Well done to everyone that participated in the theatre sport. You all acted out a fearful situation that you have been in. The scariest was the girls that went camping on a windy night!!!


And what a fright we all got when half way through the evening the door started banging and a masked man entered with a gun. We only caught a glimpse of him because lights went out and shots were fired. I think we all had our hearts pounding ---- thankfully it was only Martin with a cap gun!! :) Although it was scary it was a great introduction to our discussion. Wayne asked us to think about some of the things that we are scared of, and then let us think about whether there is such a thing as good fear. We decided that it was good to be afraid sometimes, otherwise we would put ourselves in dangerous positions. We also talked about what to do when we are afraid. Some of us thought it would be a good idea to run away and hide when we were afraid. Did you know that God says in the Bible that he will be a hiding place for those that believe in Him?? That means that if we have a relationship with God we never have to be afraid, because we know that God will look after us!!!

After our discussion we had a lot of fun playing table tennis, pool, table soccer, basketball, or just hanging out.

Boredom ate my Brain !!!!

Well that was the topic at DropZone on Friday night, but one thing for sure it was NOT a boring program!!! :) We had tonnes of FUN together, that was after the boring start.... sitting with your eyes closed pretending you were in a room with nothing in it. Well the night was packed with FUN games, like circular tug-of-war which we did a little different as we had teams, worked well and the best was the youth against the leaders! not sure who won but ouch the rope hurnts your hands.

The BEST part of the evening was the FOAM HAIRDO competition, well since you guys did not want shaving foam through your hair do's the poor guy leaders were picked. Poor Wayne, Martijn and Eric!!! but well they had fun laughing at each other while they did not know what was happening to their own hair do.

Well Done youth the new hair styles were just the best!!! :) super cool!!! hope you guys can get the stuff out of your hair!!!! it also looks like some of you youth got in changing your hair do's too!!! cool

Some of the other games were .... Fill the bottle , had to pour water from each cup and lastly into the bottle, some of you did really well but i know my team did not as we only had half a bottle of water, i guess we must have spilled lots on the way...oopss.

Frisbee bowling proved to be hard as i don't think any of you actually hit the cups down with your paper plate frisbee. but hay it was FUN .

We also had a brainstorm and talk about what is boring, what can you do when you are bored and about what thing are not o.k to do even if you are bored. You all came up with great ideas about how you can spend your time and when you are bored it is best to ring a friend and do some thing together as that is way more fun. Every one thought coming to DropZone was a good thing to do too!!... way to go cause DropZone is NOT a boring place!! :)

and well done to those of you who remembered our new rules, need a little more hard work from some of you especially remembering to keep your mouths shut when the leaders are talking and trying to explain a game! Let's hope you remember next week!

Welcome Back

It was really great to see you all again last night. You all were obviously excited about being back too because it was a very noisy night.

We started the evening off with talking together about our holidays. This was followed by holiday bingo. Most of you really got into this game and did it properly so it was a lot of fun.

We then played Helicopters. Swinging those stockings around with your head seems pretty hard... but at least the ball at the end of it isn't very hard!!!

Tug of War Mountains was interesting. You couldn't leave your box which is pretty hard if you are trying to pull the others out of their box. We should play this again now that you understand how it works. The girls were majorly out numbered by the boys though!! Not that girls are weaker :)

Then you had to fill out forms about yourself, so we know when your birthday is etc. Hope you all filled it out right this time because its great to get a chocolate fish on your birthday. Hmm, us leaders should have filled one out too!!!!

BRRR, the next game was chilly!! 10 Toes on the Rocks.... Dig with your toes for marbles in a paddling pool with ice!! Most of you were very brave!! I'm glad it wasn't me! It was very hot inside so being outside for a game was a good change.

In the last game most of you turned into Lady Birds. You had to stick stickers on the backs of oposite team members. It was enjoyed by all!!

We finished off the program with talking about Rules and what happens when you break them. The rules we decided on were Respect to others and their things, and No smoking, Alchohol and Drugs, and No Cellphones. This year we are going to use a system of Yellow cards and Red cards. You get a yellow card if you get a warning and you can have two of those a night, a third warning is a red card - then you have to leave DropZone for the night. You can also get a red card for major stuff like fighting.
